NEW HANOVER COUNTY — A 28-year-old pleaded guilty Wednesday for 10 offenses of breaking and entering into motor vehicles and two felony charges of heroin possession.
The New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office linked Darryl Lewayne Easter to a string of break-ins that occurred in the Ogden area around Gordon Road early last year. Detectives used home surveillance camera footage to identify Easter.
Upon arrest, Easter also had outstanding arrest orders for failing to appear in court for felony drug charges that occurred in 2017 and 2018. Easter will serve 30 to 48 months in prison as a habitual felon charged by Superior Court Judge Phyllis Gorham. He also had prior convictions for breaking into motor vehicles and larcenies.
Easter will have to pay restitution to the victims as part of work release and post-release supervision.
