WPD arrest 20-year-old involved in November robbery of delivery driver

WILMINGTON—The Wilmington Police Department have charged Darius Watson, 20, with possession of firearm by felon, robbery with a dangerous weapon, conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon, contributing the delinquency of a minor, and discharging firearms in city limits.  Watson was arrested for the armed robbery of a delivery driver last month.

On Nov. 15, the victim was attempting to deliver food in the vicinity of 350 S. Turners Run, when a robber approached with a gun, demanding money. The unharmed victim made it to the Haynes-Lacewell Training Center by foot to report the crime. When police arrived, they discovered items stolen from inside victim’s damaged vehicle.

A second suspect is still wanted in relation to the robbery. WPD requests anyone with information to contact them at (910)-343-3609, use the new Wilmington NC PD app for anonymous methods, or text an anonymous tip to 847411 (tip411) by including the keyword “WPDNC.”
