NHCSO deputy victim of hit-and-run, recovering with non-life-threatening injuries

WILMINGTON—On Friday evening a New Hanover County Sheriff’s deputy was hit by a southbound vehicle on Carolina Beach Road. The officer was transported to the hospital and is now recovering from non-life-threatening injuries.

He was struck around 9:30 p.m by a dark-colored, 2004 Chevy SUV, reported as having a missing front headlight and side mirror. The vehicle fled the scene after hitting the officer, who was conducting a routine traffic stop near Golden Road.
