CAROLINA BEACH — The Town of Carolina Beach has hired a new police chief. Retired State Highway Patrol officer Vic Ward will begin the position next month.
Ward will oversee the town’s 32 police officers and administrative staff. He worked nearly 30 years for the State Highway Patrol and retired as deputy commander.
“I am very honored to have been selected as Police Chief of Carolina Beach,” Ward said in a press release. “I look forward to working with the men and women of the department, town leadership, the community, and all of our public safety partners.”
Ward will replace Chief Chris Spivey, who worked for the town police department for 20 years, spending the last five as chief.
