Brunswick and New Hanover DAs host drive-in memorial for victims of violent crimes

WILMINGTON, NC — Brunswick and New Hanover county district attorney offices are hosting the 25th annual Candlelight Memorial in partnership with The Wilson Center and Cape Fear Community College. The memorial will take place at CFCC’s downtown Wilmington campus on Nov. 20, 6 p.m., to pay tribute to victims of violent crimes in Bladen, Brunswick, Columbus, New Hanover, and Pender counties.

The annual event is a partnership between the offices of brothers and district attorneys Jon David and Ben David. The 2020 event will be a drive-in, to follow proper Covid-19 guidelines, and will be extended by invitation only.

According to a press release, the service will include a memorial film, with sound coming from short-range FM radio. The film gives loved ones of victims an opportunity to pay tribute to the departed.

The community-at-large can screen the film virtually at https://www.newhanoverpenderda.com/
