WILMINGTON — Two additional juveniles have been charged in the fourth of July weekend assault on a Landfall security guard, bringing the number of those charged in the case up to three.
One of the suspects has been charged with assault inflicting serious injury and disorderly conduct by fighting. The other is facing charges for two counts of assault inflicting serious injury and disorderly conduct by fighting.
“The juveniles that were charged today have not turned themselves in yet,” according to Sgt. Ronald Evans at Wilmington Police Department.

A secured custody order, which is a judge-issued directive for law enforcement to place juveniles into detention, has been issued for both of the accused. According to the NC Courts, the orders typically are used for juveniles facing delinquency charges, for those with previous serious offenses or who pose a public threat.
A Landfall security guard, Russell James, was attacked by multiple teenagers during a fireworks show at the Country Club of Landfall on Friday July 3. Last week a 17-year-old was the first to be charged in relation to the case, with felony assault inflicting serious bodily injuries.
All names are being withheld due to juvenile status.
Videos of the incident have been circulating social media; however, Wilmington Police Department said it could not officially or unofficially verify them.
A public records request was put in for the 911 call but hasn’t been returned to Port City Daily by the county yet.
The investigation remains open.
