Coming off the success of its challenge last year to raise $24,000 in 24 hours, UNC-Wilmington is hoping to hit a higher mark this time around.
Dubbed “Give More in 24,” this year’s fundraising drive, which gets underway at 8 a.m. Tuesday, aims to collect $133,801 to receive an additional donation of $48,000 to benefit the university’s scholarship funds, departments and programs.
Last year’s “Give 24 in 24” far exceeded its goal, bringing in $133,800 in donations from alumni, parents of students, community members and area businesses and garnering an anonymous gift of $24,000.
“This year, all we need is one additional dollar and we’ll be able to double that gift,” Charles Hardy, Dean of UNCW’s College of Health and Human Sciences, said. “Every single dollar truly makes a difference…This means more scholarships, more internships, more research opportunities, more international experiences and more for our students.”
Donors can contribute money to the specific department or program on campus they so choose.
Pledges can be made online, by phone at (910) 962-7613 or by texting the word “PLEDGE” to 90947.
