WILMINGTON — UNCW released its Covid-19 protocols for students, faculty and staff returning to campus for the 2022 spring semester.

Before classes start on Jan. 12, Seahawks working, living or learning on campus will need to provide proof of vaccination, proof of natural immunity via a positive Covid-19 test taken within the past 90 days, proof of a negative Covid-19 test within the past five days, or get tested ahead of move-in and starting classes or work.

Move-in day takes place Jan. 7, though testing begins earlier, Jan. 4, and continues through Jan. 9 in Warwick Ballroom 4. A release noted it takes approximately 45 minutes — to be vaccinated and receive a clearance letter.

The schedule is:

  • Tuesday, Jan. 4, 1 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.
  • Wednesday, Jan. 5, 8:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.
  • Thursday, Jan. 6, 8:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.
  • Friday, Jan. 7, 8:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.
  • Saturday, Jan. 8, 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.
  • Sunday, Jan. 9, 1 p.m. – 6 p.m.

UNCW also assured individuals who have submitted vaccination records or a previous test within the appropriate time frame will not need to resubmit materials. The documents remain on file and clearance letters will be sent to individuals ahead of classes.

To submit vaccination records or test results, or ask questions, individuals can email [email protected]. Records can also be dropped off in person at any testing site.

Surveillance testing for unvaccinated students, faculty and staff will begin Monday, Jan. 10. Anyone who arrives to campus on the 10th or later will be required to test. Hours are: Monday-Thursday, 8:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m., and 1 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. in Warwick Ballroom 4 and Veterans Hall, room 1012.

UNCW noted it will adjust Covid-19 protocols as necessary in response to the omicron variant, as more information becomes available. The campus follows guidance from Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, N.C. Department Human and Health Service and UNC System policies, specifically assessing the the level of transmission and overall vaccination rate.
