Tri-county schools check-in: NHCS reporting lowest Covid-19 case count so far this school year

SOUTHEASTERN N.C. — New Hanover County Schools is reporting one of its lowest weeks for Covid-19 cases this school year.

Seventy-two positive test results were reported for the past week of Sept. 27. Plus, 61 quarantines were assigned, according to the district’s online dashboard.

(NHCS’ numbers are not entered in real-time, meaning some data may be delayed. The dashboard is updated once a week on Friday. Some current cases may not be reflected until the following week’s totals are published.)


Since the start of the school year, NHCS recorded 894 positive cases total. Here is the breakdown for the week of Sept. 27:

Brunswick County Schools

Brunswick County Schools is reporting 66 active Covid-19 cases. More than 200 people were quarantining out of precaution as of Friday afternoon, according to the online dashboard.

Since the first day of school, Aug. 23, the school system has recorded 473 positive cases overall.

Pender County Schools is confirming 32 Covid cases and 127 quarantines for the week of Sept. 19 to Sept. 25, according to the latest update on its dashboard.

Since Aug. 30, 232 staff and students in Pender County tested positive for Covid-19.
