Sheriff’s office investigating murder-attempted suicide

NEW HANOVER COUNTY — A death investigation continues after the New Hanover County Sheriff Office deputies were called to Sanderling Place off Marsh Oaks Drive Tuesday night.

Law enforcement were dispatched via 911 and upon arrival found 86-year-old Linda Bullington Anderson inside the residence suffering from a gunshot wound. She was pronounced deceased at the scene.

87-year-old Jack Mitchell Anderson was located in the backyard, also suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to the hospital and emains in critical condition.

Detectives are investigating the incident as a murder and attempted suicide due to evidence found so far. The investigation remains ongoing.
