
WILMINGTON — Firefighting crews were called to an apartment complex in the Pine Valley area around midnight Thursday due to one residential building engulfed in flames. Several residents have been displaced.
The Wilmington Fire Department responded to The Preserve at Pine Valley and crews were able to quickly extinguish the fire. It affected only one residential building on Wickslow Road.
No civilians were injured, though one firefighter was transported to Novant’s NHRMC with non-life-threatening injuries. The crew member has since been released.
According to the WFD, Red Cross North Carolina is assisting the residents who lost their homes and belongings.
The fire remains under investigation by the Fire Marshal’s Office.
