WILMINGTON — The University of North Carolina at Wilmington Police Department will be hosting a training program sponsored by the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center.
The department will run a basic tactical medical instructor training program at the Pat Leonard Student Recreation Center from July 7 to July 9, which will host first responders from across the country. The training will take place behind the recreation center in the afternoon and will feature emergency simulations.
Campus community members may see multiple police officers, emergency vehicles and personnel participating in these exercises. The simulations may also include loud noises and actors portraying victims as part of realistic training scenarios and are not indicative of real emergencies.
If anyone has concerns about a potential real emergency, community members are invited to call university police department communications personnel to report the concerns.
