WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH — At around 9 a.m. on Sunday morning, the Wrightsville Beach Police Department, alongside the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office, Wilmington Police Department and North Carolina State Highway Patrol, responded to a report of a man standing on a balcony with a rifle at the 300 block of Coral Drive.
Upon arrival, individuals on the balcony went back into the home and another was seen fleeing from the back of the building toward North Channel Drive. The WBPD established a perimeter around the house alongside the other responding agencies, and once all occupants were out of the house, officers cleared the area without issue.
The 12 occupants of the home were temporarily detained but no arrests were made, and the WBPD determined there was no danger to the public and no criminal activity going on.
The occupants later checked out from the home.
