
WILMINGTON — A juvenile was hospitalized with serious injuries after being struck by a driver on Saturday morning.
On Saturday, April 18, just after 10:10 a.m., officers with the Wilmington Police Department responded to a serious injury crash in the 600 block of S. 15th Street.
According to the WPD, the investigation revealed that 51-year-old Theodore Roosevelt Gause of Wilmington struck the cyclist after crossing the center line and veering off the roadway. was involved in a collision that resulted in a juvenile victim sustaining severe injuries. The cyclist then collided with the retaining wall.
Gause has been charged with the following offenses:
- Felony Serious Injury by Vehicle
- Felony Hit and Run (Serious Injury/Death)
- Driving While Impaired
- Driving While License Revoked
- Expired Registration
- Fictitious Registration
- No Registration Card
This incident remains under active investigation by the WPD.
Gause is currently being held without bond at the NHSO Detention Center.
