[Ed. note: The boil water advisory has been lifted as of Wednesday, April 22.]
WILMINGTON — Cape Fear Public Utility Authority crews need to replace broken water valves in the Dawson Street area and have scheduled a precautionary boil water advisory to begin Monday evening.
The advisory takes effect at 9 p.m. on April 20 and will affect roughly 115 customers at the following addresses:
- All of the Hillcrest Community
- 1100 through 1600 blocks of Dawson Street
- 700 block of South 14th Street
- 800 block of South 15th Street
- The 1400 block of Wooster Street
- The 900 and 1000 blocks of South 16th Street
Customers could experience temporary service interruption, including periods of low or no pressure. This increases the potential for back siphonage and bacteria being introduced into the water system.
Customers not using bottled water, should boil their water for 1 minute and allow it to cool, before drinking it or consuming it otherwise — such as via brushing teeth, making ice, preparing food or baby formula, washing produce, etc. There is no need to boil the water for bathing or showering.
CFPUA lab staff will test the water to ensure it is safe to drink before lifting the advisory.
