LELAND — Two children passed away in a fatal house fire in Leland this Thursday. Two adults and one other child are seeking medical care.

The initial call was made at 5 a.m. March 12, and North West Volunteer Fire/Rescue responded after being “paged out to a structure fire with entrapments.” The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation received a request from the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office to assist at the scene on Grist Creek Wynd.

The fire was placed under control around 6:14 a.m.

Port City Daily reached out to the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office to inquire into the reason the SBI was requested, but did not hear back by press. No further details have been provided yet.
