Outboard motor maintenance course offered at Surf City CFCC campus

SURF CITY — A new course is coming to Cape Fear Community College’s Surf City location this summer.

Starting in June, an introduction to Outboard Systems course will be offered in partnership with Yamaha. It will provides specialized training in outboard motor maintenance in an effort to support the area’s Marin industry. The course will prepare students to master maintenance tasks associated with Yamaha F30-50 Midrange models. They also will receiving hands-on learning in service requirements for engines operating from 100 to 1,000 hours.

“This course represents an important expansion of our workforce training opportunities at the Surf City Campus,” Erin Easton, CFCC vice president of economic and workforce development and career and technical education, said in a release. “By expanding our partnership with Yamaha, we’re ensuring students receive high-quality, industry-relevant instruction that prepare them for in-demand marine service careers.”
