Monday, Jan. 26
The Kure Beach Town Council will host a regular meeting at 6 p.m. The agenda includes:
- Approval of street closure for the Kure Community Fest
- Committee appointments
- Department reports, including an overview of the improvement project on the Fort Fisher Blvd & K Avenue intersection
- An update to the beach renourishment project

Tuesday, Jan. 27
The New Hanover County Board of Education will hold an agenda review at 2 p.m. in the Board of Education Center, 1805 S. 13th St. Meetings are livestreamed here. An agenda was not posted by press.
The Southport Board of Adjustment will host a regular meeting at 4:30 p.m. The agenda includes:
- A special use permit request for an accessory building on S. Atlantic Avenue
- An appeal regarding fences in the city’s right-of-way on E. Bay St.
- An appeal regarding the usage of a commercial parking lot in a residential zoning on S. Caswell Avenue and W. Bay Street.

The Oak Island Planning Board will host a regular meeting at 6 p.m. The agenda includes:
- A proposed change to the UDO to establish side street or lateral access rather than a driveway off Oak Island Dr. and reduce the transparency requirement for building façades
- A proposed change to the UDO to get rid of the minimum parking requirement for commercial developments

The Topsail Beach Board of Commissioners will hold a budget retreat Jan. 27 and 29 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Board Room. Commissioners will review the current budget and discuss priorities for the 2026-2027 fiscal year, including the 2026 paid parking season and vitex eradication project. The meetings will livestream here.
The Brunswick County Board of Elections will meet at 4 p.m. The board will consider the appointment of early voting officials for the primary election and take action on absentee ballots.
The Leland Planning Board will meet at 6 p.m. at the Town Hall. The agenda includes a discussion topic regarding a comprehensive update of Land Development regulations.
The Belville Board of Commissioners will host a regular meeting at 6 p.m. An agenda was not posted by press.
The New Hanover County Board of Elections will meet at 5 p.m. in the board room at the Board of Elections Office, 226 Government Center Drive, to review absentee ballot applications and discuss other election-related matters as needed. The Pender County Board of Elections will meet at 6 p.m. at 807 Walker St. An agenda was not posted by press. The public is welcome.
The Brunswick County Board of Elections will meet at 4 p.m. at the Commissioners Chambers, 30 Government Center Dr. The agenda includes appointments of early voting officials and consideration of absentee ballots. Meetings can be accessed via YouTube.
H2Go Brunswick Regional Water and Sewer meets at 2:30 p.m. at 146 Gregory Road, in the water treatment plant training room. The agenda includes budget schedule, administration and operational complex design and capital improvement plan. The public is welcome to attend.
Wednesday, Jan. 28
The New Hanover County Board of Education will hold a town hall on the budget in the Board of Education Center, 1805 S. 13th St. The town hall for staff members will begin at 5 p.m., while parents will be able to join at 6 p.m.
The Surf City Town Council will hold its annual planning meeting Jan. 28–30 at the Town Hall. The three-day workshop focuses on updating the 2025-2030 Strategic Plan and reviewing the Capital Improvement Plan for the upcoming budget. Public comment sessions are scheduled for Wednesday at 4:35 p.m., Thursday at 4:45 p.m., and Friday at 12:00 p.m.
The Topsail Beach Planning Board will meet at 10 a.m. Jan. 28 at the Town Hall. The agenda includes the introduction of new board member John Wareham and a vote on a recommended text amendment regarding Special Event permits. The meeting will livestream here.
The Wilmington Urban Area Metropolitan Planning Organization Board will meet at 3 p.m. at 525 N. Fourth St. Meetings are livestreamed here. The agenda includes:
- NCDOT Confident Scope and Cost Estimates
- WMPO 2022-2026 Strategic Plan 2026 Work Plan
New Hanover County ILM Airport Authority meets at 4:30 p.m. in the ILM Executive Conference Room. The agenda includes the schedule for Vision Plan Approval, as well as recommend approval of amended and lease agreement between airport authority and ILM Airport Hotel Partners, LLC (“Hotel”).
