
SOUTHEASTERN N.C. — As a winter storm moves through the state over the weekend, closures, postponements and scheduling changes are being announced in the tri-county region.
Below is a list of public facilities, attractions and other places and events that have canceled or altered hours in New Hanover, Brunswick and Pender counties due to potential freezing rain expected regionwide Saturday into Sunday.

The list below includes announcements as of Friday afternoon, but check back for additions, especially should the storm bring ice accumulation that lasts into Monday.
Area public schools have not announced closures for Monday at this time, but all regional districts continue to monitor the weather. The local university and community college is doing so as well.
SATURDAY, JAN. 24
Carolina Beach Public Restrooms — Currently closed and will remain shuttered until weather improves.
City of Wilmington Municipal Golf Course — The city has covered the greens at its municipal golf course at 311 Donald Doss Dr. as of Friday, Jan. 23, 2 p.m. Temporary covers prevent ice damage and winterkill to preserve the turf, and will be in place through Monday, Feb. 2. If conditions improve, they will be removed earlier to allow for operations to resume.
City of Wilmington Recreation Facilities — Close Saturday at 4 p.m.
New Hanover County ABC Stores — Closing early on Saturday at 5 p.m. instead of 8 p.m. ABC Stores are closed on Sundays, but will reopen Monday per weather permitting.
New Hanover County Book Sale — Opens at 10 a.m. but closes early at 2 p.m. instead of 5 p.m.
New Hanover County Landfill — Opens 6:30 a.m. and closes at noon, though the landfill and household hazardous waste schedule will operate on normal hours.
New Hanover County Libraries — Open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. as opposed to 5 p.m.
New Hanover County Parks — Opening at 8-9 a.m. but closing early at 2 p.m., including the Airlie Gardens and the Arboretum.
SUNDAY, JAN. 25
New Hanover County Book Sale — To operate normal Sunday hours from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
New Hanover County Libraries — To operate normal Sunday hours from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
New Hanover County Parks — Will reopen at noon, including Airlie Gardens and the Arboretum
MONDAY, JAN. 26
Classical Charter Schools (Wilmington, Leland and Southport) — To close Monday, Jan. 26, and implement remote learning.
TUESDAY, JAN. 27
Classical Charter Schools (Wilmington, Leland and Southport) — To close Tuesday, Jan. 27, and implement remote learning.
