WPD investigates fatal morning shooting

WILMINGTON — The first shooting to take place locally in 2026 is under investigation, as officers found a man with a gunshot would upon being called to the 2600 block of Constitution Boulevard.

Though the victim was transported to Novant Health NHRMC, he passed away from his injuries. The WPD is investigating the case and have determined a suspect in the case knows the deceased. No arrests have been made.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact WPD at (910) 343-3600 or use the anonymous Tip 411 app.
