The fair comes as Novant was also recognized by the American Heart Association’s Get With The Guidelines quality achievement awards for delivering quality, coordinated care for patients experiencing heart failure and stroke.
“Our expert heart and vascular, neurosciences and mobile integrated health teams all deliver outstanding care to patients across our region each day,” Laurie Whalin, president, Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center and acute care operations for the Novant Health Coastal Region, said in a release. “These awards are a testament to the clinical quality these programs offer patients in need of care for both emergencies and chronic conditions.”
Novant Health Brunswick Medical Center was recognized with Rural Silver and Gold Plus in heart failure, and Gold Plus for stroke. Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center received Gold Plus in heart failure and Gold Plus in stroke.
As well, Novant Health New Hanover EMS and Novant Health AirLink & VitaLink critical care transport were honored with Mission: Lifeline Gold awards.
The awards come on the heels of the Five Star Project calling for better healthcare practices from Novant, particularly at NHRMC. The group has been picketing recent commissioner meetings demanding leadership hold the hospital accountable after they sold the county-owned facility to Novant in 2021 for $1.5 billion.
