WILMINGTON — A community event helping families prepare for the new school year is planned this month.

For more than a decade, a Back-to-School giveaway and expo has been hosted at D.C. Virgo Academy at 813 Nixon St. The 12th annual event is planned for Aug. 16, noon to 3 p.m., with resources provided. This includes free information and community organizations set up to cover health and education and how to prepare for wellness and academic success.

There will be free food, free IDs from the sheriff’s office, and free school supplies from kindergarten through middle school.

More information can be accessed by contacting Kristie Ford at Pg@kristieford.com.
