SOUTHEASTERN N.C. — Every Monday Port City Daily will share upcoming government and community meetings around the tri-county region. If there’s an item of public interest, it will be included, too.

Monday, April 28

Pender County Board of Commissioners will meet for a budget workshop at 6 p.m., 805 S. Walker Street, Burgaw. An agenda was not posted by press. Streamed meetings can be accessed here

The New Hanover County Board of Education will hold a special meeting at 1 p.m. at the Board of Education Center, 1809 S. 13th St. The purpose of the meeting is to hold a Closed Session to hold Future Teacher Scholarship interviews pursuant to NCGS 143-318.11 (a) (1) and (a) (2) to prevent the disclosure of student records rendered confidential under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, 20 U.S.C. 1232g, and to prevent the premature disclosure of a scholarship award. Tuesday, April 29

Wrightsville Beach Board of Alderman will meet for a budget workshop at 9 a.m. in the Wrightsville Beach Town Hall Council Chambers, 321 Causeway Drive. Watch streamed meetings here.

Oak Island Town Council will hold a budget workshop for the 2025-2026 budget at 9 a.m. in Council Chambers, 4600 E. Oak Island Drive. Meetings are streamed here.

The Pender County Board of Education will conduct a Committee of the Whole meeting at 9:30 a.m. in the Dr. Katherine Herring Resource Center, 798 U.S. Highway. 117. Meetings are live streamed here. The agenda includes:

  • Artificial Intelligence 
  • Three Tier Bell Schedule Proposal

The New Hanover County Board of Education will hold an agenda review at 2 p.m. in the Board of Education Center, 1809 S. 13th St. Meetings are streamed here. The agenda includes:

Wednesday, April 30

The Wilmington Urban Area Metropolitan Planning Organization Board of Directors will meet at 3 p.m. in the WMPO board room, 525 N. Fourth St. The meeting will be live streamed here. The agenda includes:

Thursday, May 1

Pender County Technical Review Committee will meet at 9 a.m., 805 S. Walker Street, Burgaw. The agenda includes application reviews for a Starbucks at Washington Acres, expansion of an existing storage facility on Jenkins Road, and a 6,000 square foot facility to build boats in Topsail Township.

  • 19.32 acres located at 226 Edgewater Club Road and the 900 block of Waterstone Drive from the (CZD) R-7, Residential and R-20, Residential districts to a (CZD) R-5, Residential Moderate-High Density district for an 82 unit Senior Living: Independent Living Retirement Community consisting of a mix of detached and attached single-family dwellings
  • 10.8 acres located at 6425 and 6437 Gordon Road and 1927 Gordon Acres Drive from R-15, Residential to a (CZD) R-5, Residential Moderate High District for an 81-lot residential subdivision
