WILMINGTON — Avelo Airlines has announced another nonstop flight to its lineup out of Wilmington International Airport.

A direct flight to Miami International Airport will begin June 6 and take place every Friday and Saturday through Aug. 16 on the Boeing Next-Generation 737. This will be the fifth Florida destination Avelo flies from ILM, also including Fort Lauderdale, Fort Myers, Orlando and Tampa.

The announcement comes as Avelo also added Wilmington as a base at the beginning of April. The new base means that one Avelo aircraft will live at the airport permanently, along with its pilots, crew members and maintenance technicians. Avelo is also adding a second aircraft base at ILM sometime in the second half of 2025.

“Avelo’s combination of low fares, industry-leading reliability and travel-friendly service continues to inspire more people from across Wilmington to travel,” according to Avelo Airlines Founder and CEO Andrew Levy.

Flights to MIA, which clock in just under two hours, start at $35 one way. Avelo also flies from Wilmington to:

  • Boston / Manchester, New Hampshire
  • Detroit, Michigan
  • Houston, Texas
  • Nashville, Tennessee
  • New Haven, Connecticut
  • New York / Long Island
  • Philadelphia / Wilmington, Delaware
  • Rochester, New York
  • Washington, D.C. / Baltimore, Maryland
  • Washington, D.C.

Travelers to MIA will access the culture — the internationally attended Art Basel takes place in June — nightlife, restaurants, shopping and coastal amenities of the second largest metropolitan area in the Southeast, behind Atlanta; Miami has a 6.1-million population. The ILM flight also makes for easier connections to European, South American or Asian destinations, which MIA serves, as well as to reach cruise ships that dock in Port Miami.
