WILMINGTON — A gravity sewer main will be replaced near downtown, rendering an area to close overnight.

The Cape Fear Public Utility Authority will replace a sewer main at Grace and 16th streets, meaning part of the streets will close overnight on Tuesday, April 22, for repairs. The closure begins on N. 16th Street, from Rankin to Grace streets, and Grace Street, between N. 15th and N. 17th streets (see the map above).

According to CFPUA, “through-traffic from Princess Place Drive will be detoured around the closure via Rankin Street. Other traffic in the area will be detoured via North 15th Street and Chestnut Street. Local traffic will still be allowed during the closure.”

It’s expected to be in place through 5 a.m. on Wednesday, April 23.
