NHCSO makes two arrests after months-long drug investigation

NEW HANOVER COUNTY — Vice and narcotics detectives seized over 300 pressed fentanyl pills and arrested two residents on charges including maintaining controlled substances within 1,000 feet of a school earlier this month.

New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office carried out a months-long narcotics investigation culminating in the Jan. 3 arrest of Pedro Pablo Duran-Quintero and Jan. 7 detainment of Alexander Daniel Hamann-Larner. Detectives seized approximately seven grams of cocaine, 270 grams of marijuana, two firearms, and fentanyl pills with an estimated street value of $4,500.

Duran-Quintero is being held at New Hanover County Detention Center under a $1.3 million bond. His charges include five counts of trafficking fentanyl, two counts of manufacturing a schedule I controlled substance, and two counts of maintain/sell/deliver/possess a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a school.

Hamann-Larner’s charges include manufacturing, selling, and delivering cocaine, maintaining a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a school, and three counts of maintaining a dwelling for a controlled substance. He initially received a $500,000 secured bond but has since posted bond.
