PENDER COUNTY — As extreme cold weather and potentially hazardous driving conditions approach Friday into Saturday, Pender County Schools is preparing with the following precautions.

It’s adjusted its schedule per afterschool activities this weekend:

  • All after-school activities on Friday, including PACES, are canceled
  • No travel for any school-related activities is permitted until noon on Saturday
  • Saturday activities will be allowed only from noon to 7 p.m. — all events must conclude by 7:00 PM.

“These measures are being taken to ensure the safety of our students, staff, and families,” according to the schools district.

It suggests students and families monitor the district website and social media for additional updates.
