NEW HANOVER COUNTY — Due to the potential of a wintry mix of weather reaching southeastern North Carolina Friday afternoon, New Hanover Schools has adjusted scheduling for its afterschool activities.

It’s canceled all events and practices planned for Friday afternoon, Jan. 10.

“The safety and well-being of our students, staff, and families are always our top priority,” the district noted in a press release.

On Saturday, Jan. 11, it has allowed any school practices and events allowed at noon but must conclude by 7 p.m.

“Thank you for your cooperation and support as we work together to ensure a safe and secure environment for everyone in our school community,” the district noted.
