Monday, Jan. 6
The Wilmington City Council will hold an agenda review at 8:30 a.m.. in city hall, 102 N. Third St. Meetings are livestreamed here.
The New Hanover County Commissioners will meet at 4 p.m. in the NHC Courthouse, 24 N. Third St. Meetings are livestreamed here. The agenda includes:
- Consider a resolution supporting a high hazard classification for lot clearing burns in New Hanover County
- UDO amendment ADUs, parking ratios, parking lot landscaping, street-yard requirements and mixed-use residential development
The Leland Tourism Development Authority will meet at 11 a.m. in the Town Hall at 102 Town Hall Dr. The meeting can be streamed here, and the agenda includes FY25-26 budget discussion and a strategic plan update.
The Pender County Board of Commissioners will have a regular meeting at 4 p.m. in the Pender County Public Assembly Room at 805 S. Walker Street. The meetings can be streamed here. The agenda includes a public hearing for an amendment to allow alcohol in parks for special events.
The Southport Board of Alderman will be meeting at 9 a.m. in the Southport Community Building at 223 E. Bay Street. The meeting will be streamed here. The agenda includes a shore stabilization project along the south side of Bay Street by the Cape Fear River.
Brunswick Community College Board of Trustees will hold a zoom meeting at 5:30 p.m.
Tuesday, Jan. 7

- Ordinance Authorizing the Approval of a Pilot Social District in the Brooklyn Arts District

Surf City Town Council will have a regular meeting at 4:30 p.m. at Surf City Municipal Complex, 214 W. Florence Way. The agenda includes a public hearing for the Decks to Sea rezoning request and the annexation agreement with the Town of Holly Ridge, plus Ziggy Ventures LLC site plan approval. The Wrightsville Beach Board of Aldermen will have a special meeting to conduct a budget work session at 9 a.m. in the Conference Room at 321 Causeway Drive. The meeting will be streamed here.

The Southport Board of Adjustment will have a special meeting at 4:30 p.m. at 113 W Moore Street. The board will consider a special use permit for an accessory building.

Wednesday, Jan. 8
North Topsail Beach Board of Alderman meet at 11 a.m. at Town Hall, 2008 Loggerhead Court. The agenda includes North Carolina Department of Transportation letter of Intent to repeal the speed limit 45 on 3.92 miles of New River Inlet Road and legislative hearing regarding amendments to the Flood Damage Prevent Ordinance and conforming changes for the same to address development within the AEC setback. Topsail Beach Board of Commissioners will meet at 6 p.m. at Town Hall, 820 S Anderson Blvd. The agenda includes two public hearings, amendments to the Flood Damage Prevention Ordinance with the effective date determined by FEMA, as new Flood Insurance Rate Maps, to go into effect Jan. 17, 2025. Included are recommended changes to Section 14-5 Definitions – Substantial Improvement. Video is available here.

City of Southport’s Historic Preservation Committee will meet at 4 p.m. in the Indian Trail Meeting Hall at 113 W Moore Street. The public is welcome to attend. On the agenda is approval of Dec. 4’s meeting.
Cape Fear Public Utility Authority will meet at 9 a.m. at 230 Government Center Dr. The agenda includes a $6.2 million contract with Carolina Civilworks Inc. for the Northern New Hanover County Water & Sewer Main project.
The Wilmington Planning Commission will meet at 6 p.m. in city hall, 102 N. Third St. Meetings are livestreamed here. The agenda includes:
- Conditional rezoning of 200, 204, 206, & 210 Norwood Avenue for single family homes with accessory units
- Conditional rezoning of 4504 & 4632 Still Meadow Drive for a high-density residential development
Thursday, Jan. 9

The Wrightsville Beach Board of Aldermen will also have a regular meeting at 5:30 p.m. in the Conference Room at 321 Causeway Drive. The meeting can be streamed here. The agenda includes:

- Consider new appointments to the Planning Board, Parks and Rec Committee, Historic Landmark Commission, and the Board of Adjustment

The Southport Board of Alderman will have their second regular meeting at 6 p.m. at the Southport Community Building at 223 E. Bay Street. The meeting will be steamed here, and the agenda includes a rezoning request to make the streets of a development private to install a gate.
Carolina Beach Planning and Zoning meets at 6 p.m. at Council Chambers, 1121 N. Lake Park Blvd. The agenda includes a public discussion regarding a text amendment to Article 3, Sec. 3.49 Reconstruction, Maintenance, Full or Partial Demolition and Renovation of Nonconforming Situations, from applicant North Pier Holdings, LLC.
