Monday, Oct. 7
Leland Town Council is having a special meeting to hear a progress presentation on the town’s 2030 Strategic Plan. The meeting takes place at 4 p.m. at town hall and can be livestreamed here.
Brunswick County Commissioners will meet at 3 p.m. at 30 Government Center. The agenda includes board appointments and staff presentations. It can be livestreamed here.
The New Hanover County Commissioners will meet at 4 p.m. in the NHC Courthouse, 24 N. Third St. Meetings are livestreamed here. The agenda includes:
- Public hearing on rezoning 27.55 acres on Castle Hayne Road to the planned development district for a mixed-use development
- Public hearing on changes to comprehensive plan regarding west bank development
- Consideration of the Workforce Housing Services Program FY 2025 funding
The Southport Board of Aldermen will meet at 9 a.m. in the Southport Community Building, 223 E. Bay St. Meetings are livestreamed here. The agenda includes:

Tuesday, Oct. 8
North Carolina Department of Transportation is hosting a community meeting. Two projects will be discussed: the replacement of the Cape Fear Memorial Bridge and improvements planned for South Front Street. The meeting takes place 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at CFCC’s Daniels Hall (502 N. Front St.). NCDOT will answer questions about both projects and present information. Burgaw Board of Commissioners will have a planning and zoning training at 9 a.m. at Burgaw Town Center, 108 E Wilmington St. The agenda can be accessed here; the meeting is open to the public.
The Pender County Board of Education will meet at 6 p.m. in the Dr. Katherine Herring Resource Center, located at 798 US HWY 117 S. Meetings are livestreamed here. The agenda includes:

Burgaw Board of Commissioners will have a meeting at 4:30 p.m. at Burgaw Town Center, 108 E Wilmington St. The agenda can be accessed here and consists of:
- Departmental updates
- Public hearing for a text amendment to zoning in the UDO for recreational and vacation camps (except campgrounds) as use in the I-1 and O&I and to separation between churches, elementary schools, public parks, or existing residential structures to bars, cocktail lounge, and/or nightclubs use in the (PUD) (B-1, B-2)
Carolina Beach Council will have a regular meeting at 6 p.m. in council chambers, 1121 N. Lake Park Blvd. Livestream meetings here. The agenda includes:

New Hanover County Board of Elections will meet at 5 p.m. in the Longleaf Room at the Board of Elections Office, 1241 A Military Cutoff Rd., to review absentee ballot applications and discuss other election-related matters as needed. Limited in-person seating will be available. Pender County Board of Elections will meet at 6 p.m. at 807 Walker St., to review absentee ballot applications and discuss other election-related matters as needed. The public is welcome.
The Oak Island Town Council will meet at 6 p.m. in town hall, 4601 E. Oak Island Drive. Meetings are live streamed here. The agenda includes:
- Preservation Plan for Live Oak Tree
- Consideration of a Proposed Amendment to Moffatt & Nichol Contract (for dune planting for the FY 2024-2025 Beach Nourishment Project)

Wednesday, Oct. 9
Southport ABC Board will meet at the Southport ABC Store, 714 N. Howe St. at 2 p.m. An agenda was not posted by press.
The Southport Board of Aldermen will hold a special meeting to present the draft comprehensive plan from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Southport Community Building, 233 E. Bay St.
CFPUA Authority Board will meet at 9 a.m. at 230 Government Center Dr., room 139. The agenda includes committee and administrative reports, as well as consent items, including a $1.2-million construction contract to MB Kahn Waterworks, LLC for the Northside Wastewater Improvement Project. The public is welcome to attend in-person meetings.
Wrightsville Beach Board of Alderman will meet at 5:30 p.m. at WB Town Hall, 321 Causeway Dr. The agenda includes a public hearing to adopt ordinance 1862 for removing the requirement in the town’s UDO for the planning board to review special use permit applications. Thursday, Oct. 10
Surf City Planning Board will meet at 4 p.m. at Surf City Municipal Complex Training Room, 214 W Florence Way in Hampstead. An agenda was not posted by press; livestream the meeting here.
