WILMINGTON — A shooting and stabbing within city limits took place in the last 24 hours and is being investigated by the Wilmington Police Department.

Law enforcement were dispatched to Darlington Avenue Tuesday after 7 p.m. due to a ShotSpotter activation. Officers located a suspect in the 100 block of the street and detained him as he attempted to flee on foot; nearby they found a firearm and red hoodie.

They arrested 19-year-old Zymhec McNair, now held at the NHSO Detention Center without bond. He is being charged with:

  • Possession of weapon of mass destruction
  • Discharge firearm enclosure
  • Carrying concealed weapon-gun
  • RDO
  • Injury to real property
  • Injury to personal property

Police believe a second shooter also fired a weapon on Darlington Avenue prior to law enforcement arriving and made an arrest of a 17-year-old. Due to being a juvenile, his name is withheld, but he was taken into custody with an active secured custody order for discharge firearm in occupied dwelling and carrying a concealed weapon.

No injuries were reported from the incident.

Then overnight police were called to the 500 block of Clay Street in regard to a stabbing. They arrived around 4:20 a.m. and found a wounded male victim with severe lacerations.

Police arrested 33-year-old Rashawn Graham in the 700 block of Emory Street, in possession of a bloody knife. He has been charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury and resist, delay or obstruct a public officer. He is being held at the NHSO Detention Center under a $15,200 secure bond.
