WILMINGTON — A new division engineer has been appointed to lead the North Carolina Department of Transportation’s southern coastal counties.

Trevor Carroll, deputy division engineer, has been appointed as the new Division Engineer for Division 3 following the retirement of former Division Engineer Chad Kimes. Kimes, who retired on Aug. 30, served the department for more than 30 years.

“It is an honor to serve our citizens and work alongside a dedicated team,” Carroll said. “I look forward to continuing to improve our transportation network.”

Carroll graduated from UNC Charlotte with a bachelors in civil engineering technology. He started his career in the private sector and then came to NCDOT in 2010.

As the new Division Engineer, Carroll will lead efforts for ongoing projects happening in division 3, which consists of Brunswick, Duplin, New Hanover, Onslow, Pender and Sampson counties.
