WILMINGTON — A couple hundred Cape Fear Public Utility Authority customers in a southern portion of the county may experience low- or no-water pressure as crews work to repair a leak on a water main.

Due to the pressure issues, there could be increased potential for back siphonage or bacteria entering the system, prompting CFPUA to issue a precautionary boil water advisory.

It affects roughly 200 people living from 7100 to 7416 Myrtle Grove Road, all of Joey Court, all of the Sand Winds Mobile Home Park, all of Southeast Harbor, all of Myrtle Grove Landing, and 1636, 1638, and 1648 Sand Bar Lane.

Customers should boil water for 1 minute or use bottled water to drink or cook with. There is no need to boil water for bathing.

CFPUA will properly test the water to ensure it’s safe before lifting the advisory.
