NORTH CAROLINA — What’s being touted as the largest tech outage in history has reached global business networks, from airlines to hospitals, banks to DMV offices.

The state’s Division of Motor Vehicles reports some of its services have been affected by the outage, which occurred when a cybersecurity software update for CrowdStrike on Microsoft operating systems failed. It’s since been corrected, though the aftereffects are being felt in multiple industries.

NCDMV said in a release it is reaching out to customers to reschedule appointments as needed. There are 115 driver license offices statewide and 126 license plate agencies, operated by private business owners.

Though the outage has also affected some online services here.
