PENDER COUNTY — A Wednesday-night fire in Surf City included multiple explosions and damage to a home and vehicles. Its cause is yet known.

Around 8:30 p.m., the Surf City Fire Department was dispatched to a home engulfed in flames at 1110 S. Topsail Dr. The crew received help from Topsail Beach Fire Department, Pender EMS and Fire and North Topsail Beach Fire Department as well to extinguish it.

Power was cut off to neighboring residences and no other structures were in peril, but the homes sustained heavy damage.

Fire units cleared the site by 1 a.m. and no one was injured. Since, crews have checked in to ensure hotspots didn’t lead to more flames; they will continue to do so throughout Thursday.
