Expect overnight traffic impacts in 8 areas of town

WILMINGTON — Traffic on several Wilmington roadways will be impacted overnight beginning Monday, May 6, and continuing through Tuesday, May 7.

The North Carolina Department of Transportation will shift traffic beginning at 9 p.m. each night with 15-minute work stoppages; it will wrap by 5 a.m. Crews are working on fiber-optic cables.

Drivers should be cautious while traveling in work zones and expect delays at the following intersections:

  • Carolina Beach Road and Cape Fear Boulevard
  • Carolina Beach Road and Stadium Drive
  • Carolina Beach Road and Stadium Drive
  • Carolina Beach Road and Northern Boulevard
  • 3rd and Church streets
  • 4th and Wooster streets
  • 4th and Dawson streets  
  • 3rd Street crossing 100 feet south of Dawson Street

“These traffic changes are necessary for our utility partners,” NCDOT noted in a release.
