
CAROLINA BEACH — One man has been arrested after leading the Carolina Beach Police Department on a chase on Saturday.
Nasir Logan has been arrested on 30 charges from the Carolina Beach Police Department and the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office, including felony flee to elude arrest with a motor vehicle, felony assault with a deadly weapon on a government official, hit and run.
Carolina Beach Police Department conducted a traffic stop on around 6:40 a.m. on April 27 at the intersection of S. Lake Park Boulevard and Fayetteville Avenue for a traffic violation that turned into a narcotics investigation, according to the CBPD.
Upon questioning him, the 22-year-old Logan fled from the stopping officer and a vehicle pursuit entailed. During the pursuit the driver attempted to evade police by entering the driveway of a condominium complex off Saint Joseph St., which is a dead-end road. After Logan turned around in an attempt to exit the dead-end road, he struck the Carolina Beach Police Officers vehicle.
Per the CBPD’s account, the pursuit continued to Snows Cut bridge where the driver attempted to strike two CBPD vehicles head on while driving over the bridge median several times. Patrol units continued the pursuit into New Hanover County.
The driver continued north on Carolina Beach Road, through Monkey Junction and in to the 4800 block of S. College Road where Logan drove over the center grass median into the Mandeline Place Townhomes, located at 4804 S. College Road. Logan fled on foot from the vehicle into a townhome and officers forced entry into the unit.
The officers continued to pursue Logan as he fled out of the back door of the unit and was subsequently taken into custody by law enforcement after attempting to enter a law enforcement vehicle.
Logan was placed on a $55,000 secured bond is currently in the New Hanover County Jail awaiting first appearance.
This is the second police chase in Carolina Beach in the last week. Briggs H. Smith was allegedly driving reckless when he almost hit another driver on the road head-on before being arrested. He faces over 20 charges.
