New directors, grant opportunities from local philanthropic organization

NEW HANOVER COUNTY — A group of women have announced a season of giving with the 2024 grant cycle, led by a new panel of directors. 

The Women’s Impact Network of New Hanover County is kicking off 2024 with a $60,000 grant pool, available to local nonprofits. 

The grant pool is set to focus on nonprofit environmental projects that will benefit the greater New Hanover County community. Letters of intent for grants are being accepted up to March 8, and final selection of grantees will be announced by May 13.

As well, newly elected directors were announced this week and include: Linda Harootyan as Chair, Janet Stiegler as Vice Chair, Linda Thomas as Secretary, and Susan Vanecek as Treasurer. Sadie Campbell, Wendy Fingerhut, Debbie Mott, and Leigh Johnson, Director of Philanthropy, Planned Parenthood South Atlantic are also joining the board. 

The Women’s Impact Network of New Hanover County is a group of over 100 local women that help support community nonprofits. The organization has awarded over $530,000 in grants to 33 organizations over the past 13 years.
