WILMINGTON — The Wilmington Police Department responded to gunshots while on patrol Thursday morning in the 300 block of S. 15th St.
According to the WPD, officers located a possible suspect, Shawreed Fitzgerald, in the 1500 block of Ann Street shortly after. As Fitzgerald was given commands, officers observed a gun in his possession. The WPD report Fitzgerald resisted arrest, though he was eventually taken into custody.
Fitzgerald, 36, has been charged with shooting into an occupied dwelling, carry concealed weapon-gun, resist delay obstruct, communicating threats, and possession of firearm by a felon.
Following the shooting, officers located property damage at S.15th and S.16th Streets, though the WPD did not confirm Fitzgerald was responsible.
