Multi-county investigation leads to 1 man’s arrest on 14 drug charges

PENDER COUNTY — With assistance from neighboring law enforcement agencies, Pender County Sheriff’s Office’s months-long investigation led to an arrest.

Demonte Tevon James was in possession of cocaine and fentanyl during a traffic stop near the border of Pender and Duplin counties on Hwy. 117.

He’s being charged with 14 counts, including selling and delivering schedule I substance, possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver cocaine, schedule I and schedule II substances, manufacture of cocaine and schedule I substance, felony possession of cocaine and of schedule I, and two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia.

James was arrested Dec. 1 by the Pender County Vice Narcotics Unit with help from Duplin County and Onslow County sheriff’s offices narcotics units.

He’s currently being held at the detention center under no bond.
