WILMINGTON — According to Wilmington Police Department, a 20-year-old has been charged in a multi-vehicle collision that left a semi-truck tipped over on Carolina Beach Road Friday.

The driver, 20-year-old, Tyrese McNeil, was operating a Honda and drove into the center lane and sideswiped the semi-truck. The driver of the truck, carrying salt, attempted to avoid the incident and the weight of the truck shifted, causing it to flip on its side.

Several vehicles were damaged as a result, as well as a mailbox, and a pedestrian was struck by debris.

The road was closed for several hours due to cleanup.

There were no life-threatening injuries, according to WPD. McNeil has been charged with careless and reckless operation and improper passing.
