WILMINGTON — A woman was shot walking along the sidewalk in Wilmington and the suspect is still unknown.
Thursday evening around 6:26 p.m., Wilmington Police Department officers responded to shots fired in the 4200 block of Lake Avenue. Upon arrival, they located a 54-year-old female suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
She had been walking, when a vehicle approached, slowed down and began firing. The victim was taken to Novant New Hanover Regional Medical Center with serious injuries.
The investigation is ongoing and the WPD is searching for the suspect vehicle, a white four-door sedan with front end damage. Anyone with information should submit contact the department via the Tip 411 app or by calling 910-343-3609.
