WILMINGTON — A department chair who has worked at Cape Fear Community College for more than two decades will take on a new leadership role.
Shawn Dixon is the provost of CFCC’s north campus, the community college announced Wednesday. Dixon was department chair for the college’s largest department, applied technologies, and has worked on campus for 26 years.
“My time as a department chair has improved my understanding of our college’s community,” Dixon said in a press release. “I’m excited to bring that perspective to broaden academic leadership and continue fostering an environment where students and faculty can thrive.”
Dixon will oversee strategic leadership and operational management of the Career and Technical Education Division. As senior administrator, he also will guide curriculum development and foster faculty support and student services.
“Shawn Dixon brings a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of Cape Fear Community College’s unique strengths and challenges,” Jim Morton, CFCC president, said in a press release. “His dedication to academic excellence, student success, and continuous improvement will undoubtedly contribute to the college’s continued growth and impact on the community.”
