NEW HANOVER COUNTY — A man was arrested for severely beating another man at a gas station along Caroline Beach Road.
The New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office responded to 4902 Carolina Beach Road Sunday morning regarding an assault. Employees from the Pit Stop gas station arrived to work and found a man who had been assaulted. The victim was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
Detectives began their investigation and identified Daniel James Mendoza as the suspect. He was located at his mother’s home address and arrested for assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury.
Mendoza is being held at the New Hanover County Detention facility under a $1 million and a $5,000 secured bond. The investigation is ongoing.
