NEW HANOVER COUNTY — An 18-year-old from Ashley High School was arrested Tuesday after bringing a loaded handgun to school.

New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office arrested Kshaun Ahmad Williams, who brought a loaded Glock 19 9mm handgun with an extended magazine. An assistant principal located the gun after calling Williams in for suspected vaping.

The AP found the gun while looking for the vape pen and immediately called the SROs to the office. They secured the weapon and detained Williams.

He was arrested for felony possession of a weapon on school campus, carrying a concealed weapon and possession of a stolen firearm.

The magistrate issued no bond and Williams is being held at the New Hanover County Detention Facility.

“I don’t think he had any priors that we knew about,” Lt. Jerry Brewer told Port City Daily upon request. “But we wouldn’t know that because he would have been a juvenile.”
