Wilmington’s public transportation offers free rides on Earth Day

WILMINGTON — The local transit authority has announced a day of free services in honor of Earth Day.

Wave Transit’s modes of service, including RideMICRO, fixed route bus, and Dial-A-Ride Transportation (DART), will be free to customers on Saturday, April 22.

According to a release from Wave, the public transportation authority adds to decreased carbon emissions by keeping more drivers off the roads.

“Wave Transit is focused on sustainability, utilizing an all-CNG low emissions fleet, and operating LEED Certified facilities,” the release noted.
