Man arrested for alleged assault on police officer, firearm and drug charges

WILMINGTON — Law enforcement has arrested a 26-year-old man wanted for a parole violation, as well as a prior charge for assault with a deadly weapon on a police officer.

According to the Wilmington Police Department, the narcotics investigation division did a two-month investigation into Rodney Donnell Hansley Jr. He was on the run from authorities, a release detailed. 

With the assistance of SWAT, WPD took him into custody. Upon arrest, he was allegedly in possession of a firearm, fentanyl, crack cocaine, marijuana, and methamphetamine. 

He is charged with firearm by a felon, trafficking fentanyl, PWIMSD cocaine, PWIMSD methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, parole violation and resisting, delaying, or obstructing an officer, among other charges.

Hansley Jr. is currently being held without bond at the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center.
