WILMINGTON — Crews from Cape Fear Public Utility Authority are correcting a water main and have a portion of a downtown road closed to traffic.

The 500 block of Red Cross Street, between North 5th Avenue and North 6th Street, is not open. CFPUA was called in to assess an emergency water repair.

Motorists will be detoured around the closure using Campbell Street or Walnut Street (see the map above). Any area residents needing to get through will be allowed.

CFPUA has estimated the repair will take roughly two hours to complete.
