The Agenda: What’s happening in local government this week

SOUTHEASTERN N.C. — Every Monday Port City Daily will share upcoming government meetings around the tri-county region. If there’s an item of public interest, we’ll include that below the listed meeting, too.

Tuesday, July 5

The Surf City Town Council will meet at 4:30 p.m. at the Surf City Municipal Complex, 214 W. Florence Way. The meeting can be livestreamed on YouTube. The agenda includes a beach vitex ordinance.

The Brunswick County Commissioners will meet at 3 p.m. in commissioner chambers at the Sandifer Administration Building at 30 Government Center Drive in Bolivia, NC.

The Brunswick County Board of Education will meet at 6 p.m. in the conference room of the Center of Applied Sciences and Technology at 1109 Old Ocean Hwy, Bolivia, NC. The meeting can be livestreamed here. The agenda includes:

  • Discussion on SB 654
  • Appointment of candidate to the BCC Board of Trustees
  • Child nutrition contract with Sysco
  • Technology equipment replacement purchases 

Wednesday, July 6

The Town of Burgaw Beautification Committee will meet at 8:30 a.m. at the Historic Train Depot, 115 S. Dickerson St.

The Pender County Planning Board will meet at 7 p.m. at 805 S. Walker St. The meeting can be livestreamed here. The agenda includes two public hearings on zoning text amendments.

The Town of North Topsail Beach will meet at 11 a.m. at town hall, 2008 Loggerhead Court. The meeting can be livestreamed here. An agenda was not posted as of press. 

The Wilmington Planning Commission will meet at 6 p.m. at city hall, 102 North 3rd St. The meeting can be livestreamed on GTV8 and YouTube. The agenda includes an amendment to city code’s regulations on short-term rental regulations. Read PCD coverage here.

The New Hanover Soil & Water Conservation District Board of Supervisors will meet at 8 a.m. in the conference room of the New Hanover County Government Center, 230 Government Dr., Wilmington.

Thursday, July 7

The Town of Burgaw Tourism Development Authority will meet at 8:30 a.m. at the Historic Train Depot, 115 S. Dickerson St.

The Wilmington Housing Authority will hold several committee meetings at at Rankin Terrace, 415 N. 12th St. The community outreach and resident services committee will meet at 3 p.m.; real estate development committee will meet at 4 p.m. and the policy, administration and finance committee will meet following.
