The Agenda: This week in local government, May 24-28

SOUTHEASTERN N.C. — It may feel impossible to keep up with local issues while they’re still being worked out.

Getting involved early on in the policy-making process can help ensure the community’s input gets heard before it’s too late to chime in.

You may not even need to attend (in person or virtually) to make sure your perspective is taken into consideration. Oftentimes, sending an email to government officials to be considered as a public comment pertaining to a particular item can put your voice into the public record.

Every Monday Port City Daily will share upcoming government meetings of interest around the tri-county region. If there’s an item of public interest, we’ll include that below the listed meeting, too.

Here’s what’s on this week’s agenda:

Wednesday, May 26

Wilmington City Council and New Hanover County Commissioners‘ joint subcommittee on Workforce Housing and Transportation will meet at 8 a.m. in the conference room training 401 and 402 at the county government center.

Southport Board of Alderman will meet for a special meeting to discuss the city’s Water Asset Inventory & Assessment Project beginning at 10 a.m.

Thursday, May 27

Cape Fear Community College Board of Trustees will convene for a regular meeting at 5 p.m. at Union Station.

Oak Island Town Council will meet for a special meeting at 10 a.m.

Friday, May 28

Wilmington City Council will meet for a special budget work session beginning at 9 a.m. at the Wilmington Convention Center.
